Our Staff

You will find our staff caring and loving in their daily dealings with the children of Saint Stephen's.  We maintain a child to staff ratio of between 3 to 12 children per teacher depending on age of children and activity or educational goals.

Our Director is a graduate from the Froebel Institute, a college of  London University, U.K.  In Britain she has post graduate qualifications in reading and special education and is qualified as a primary school principal.  She taught Pre-K through grade five in London and was the head of an elementary school Reading and Language Department for seven years.  She holds a B.A. in Primary Education from Kean University, has New Jersey State Certification K-5 and has taught grades K through 2 in Summit Public Schools.  She has directed preschools both in Philadelphia and New Jersey.

One Head Teacher and Assistant Director has a B.A. and New Jersey State Certification K-5 and worked in the Summit Public School System prior to joining our staff.

The other Head Teacher has a B.A. in Psychology and fully qualified in Early Childhood Development.

Our staff exceeds the requirements set forth by the State of New Jersey Bureau of Licensing and includes NJ State Certified teachers with Bachelor’s degree and 2 year CDA certificated teachers.

We have two Pediatric Registered Nurses who work alternate days between 9:30 – 2:30.  They monitor the health, welfare and safety of the children and advise parents and teachers in health, hygiene and nutrition matters.
